It’s no secret that I’ve always had an interest in real estate, this all started off my freshman year of college when I got an internship at a real estate agency specializing in rental housing. Now, going on two years as a full-time Marketing and Client Relations Manager for the same company, I have had the opportunity to be able to take photos of homes and enhance online marketing for realtors and real estate investors alike. If you know me well, you also know that I have always loved traveling, which sparked the idea of integrating the same concept of taking professional photos for Airbnbs to enhance their online marketing. And now (with the help of my super supportive husband) I get the opportunity to do just that by partnering with Airbnb hosts to not only photograph their Airbnbs, but also blog about my stay. I’m so excited to share about my very first Airbnb stay in this blog post!
Sky Retreat off the Blue Ridge Parkway is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. The retreat space offers SO many different activities like paragliding, tubing, hiking and even ballroom dancing (just to name a few). Not to mention, the entire place is surrounded with surreal mountain views that make a refreshing and relaxing setting. The retreat space consists of 13 log cabins as well as a large ballroom that is used for weddings, events, & retreats.
We left to head up to the cabin right after work on Friday, and ended up arriving shortly after 11PM, just in time to do a little stargazing! We were greeted to a very cozy cabin - everything was great - the bed was made, the place was clean, and the hosts added very nice touches (like leaving chocolate on the bed) to make the place feel like home!
When we woke up, I began to take exterior and interior photos of the Airbnb to utilize the early morning light! I like to take most of my real estate photos either first thing in the morning or just before sunset when the lighting isn't too harsh. Taking photos of houses is always a gamble, especially since we had booked this trip several weeks in advance and it had been raining every day that week (!!!!!!). I was so nervous that the weather wouldn't cooperate during the visit, but I am so thankful that the weather ended up being perfect for the photos, and I was so excited to deliver the gallery to our Airbnb hosts!
After I was finished taking photos of the cabin, I made myself a nice cup of coffee and sat out on the deck to edit photos, listen to music, and enjoy the rest of the sunrise and the gorgeous mountain views...only to be so cutely interrupted by our doggo, Koda. Our hosts were kind enough to let our dog stay in the cabin with us which was a HUGE plus for us who love every opportunity that we get to bring our little guy around.
